The Eccentrics LIGHT Deck has 54 custom playing cards, each one its own work of art.
The Light deck designs show colorful symbols and characters on parchment-colored backgrounds.
The colors harken back to a four-color printing style from the mid-20th century. The background color is off-white. The suit colors were chosen to mimic printed colors from old books and pamphlets.
Each suit uses two colors, primary and secondary. In the Dark deck the primary color fills most of the card. The colors used for each suit are:
- Spades: blue and red
- Hearts: red and yellow
- Diamonds: yellow and green
- Clubs: green and blue
The aces demonstrate how simple geometric shapes can be overlaid to create detailed and fascinating suit symbols. In the large Ace symbols you often find randomly-generated circles with two 'eyes' in them, which have been dubbed 'Eccentrics eyes' by art collectors.
The court characters are also built from simple shapes, but their personalities still show through. The card designs are far from classic, and only mostly symmetric, but they include many of the traditional court card elements like flowers, swords, and halberds. You'll even spot 'One-Eyed Jacks' and 'Suicide Kings.'
The court characters are quirky but the corner letters and symbols stand out, making this a very playable deck.
Even the number cards are highly specialized. Every individual pip differs from card to card, making this a fun deck to flip through and scan the details.
Each deck has two custom Jokers. For the Joker artworks I let the Eccentrics algorithm cut loose to create bright geometric abstracts. They might seem symmetrical at first glance, but they never really are.
The embossed tuck box is as colorful as the cards. When you open the tuck flap you'll be greeting with cheerful interior art as well!
